FINAL RELEASE

As I didn’t receive any news from anybody, I made a final release containing minor updates.

Two months ago, Jamie Costa (friend and voice actor from the US) sent me a huge list of recorded voice audios imitating Rick Deckard. It surely brings more realism to the experience and he made so many takes that I couldn’t ignore his work. Thank you very much James! 😉

You can now download the experience (1.002) from my Google Drive, right here.

Thanks Quentin. I’ve been following this project for a long time, and after all the problems you had about those “infringements”, i really appreciate that you still made an effort to update this project, even a little bit, and add a little bit more magic from the movie. Hope you still continue working in this project, because every little thing you add always makes it a little bit more special. I think you are one of the best modellers and artists around, and i wish you all the luck in all your future projects. After all you’ve done, you deserve no less.

Thank you very much Andrew. Your kind words are really appreciated… even if I’m not really a 3D artist 🙂
I always did 3D modeling/texturing for fun but I’m very glad you like it.

Thanks Quentin. Your project is a great idea, me too I’ve been curious about this project for years.
I’m an old fan of cyberpunk movies and the atmosphere we feel by watching them…

Hi. Today I discovered his work and I do not think I can convey all the gratitude I feel to see and play his work on Blade Runner. I was one of the first people who did not know much where he was going to see the film premiere of Blade Runner in a gigantic cinema of those times in Gran Via in Madrid (Spain) and from that moment I already hooked the theme, the music the characters Vangelis music … etc. total fan of Blade Runner …
Today seeing his work working on my computer and with the HTC glasses is as if I had reached the future of the film and at any moment I get the feeling that I’m going to see Rachel or Deckard or Roy etc.
Thank you very much for your work. I’m happy. A greeting from Spain.

Quentin. If I were in your shoes, then surely a heart attack would have taken my by now. To pour your heart and soul into the project — and it shows — and to have it dismissed in the court of Dusty Dispassionate Dweebs Lawyers is a maddening and unfair travesty. Thank goodness you can still release the executable, just not through Steam. I was in my address bar, typed, “B”, and BR9732.com auto-completed. It auto-completed because I had the nasty habit of checking for an update *every single day* since you announced this on the Oculus subreddit years ago. I am pleased to see one more update!

I think I’ve told you this before, but I cancelled my own atmospheric BR apartment project for VR when I saw said post because yours had eclipsed mine from the get-go, and I can tell you nothing of value was lost, because I love what you’ve put together.

After truly learning to love the movie and the world is created when I first watched only 11 years ago, I spent years trying to model it in various capacities, but this is the dream project, the end-game for living in that world through whatever means we can in 2018.

You’re extremely talented, as I’m sure you’ve been told in these comments sections over the years, and should the circumstances of life afford you the time, please keep plugging away at projects like this. I’d love to see what other locations and worlds you can offer us an immersive slice of in VR.

    Hi Dillon,
Thank you very much for your dedicated interest in my work. It’s really appreciated. Seeing one user happy worth much more than anything to me.
I don’t know what will be the next experience yet but I still need some time to digest this unfair takedown.
Personal projects are very important to me, so I’ll come back! 🙂

Dear Quentin, thank you! I´m usually etc etc and not the type who etc etc 🙂 But I needed to simply say: Thank you.
(Everything else had been said before, one way or another)

    PS
Write to Amazon. Tell them, you make on every cardbox their logo, if they finance (and legally secure) the further development of the project! Who knows – maybe Jeff Bezos likes BR just as much as The Expanse?

What a shame how such an amazing game with unlimited potential had to be ruined by a stupid copyright strike, a true work of art.

Alright, so I came VERY late to the party, but BOY is that mighty impressive! I work with VR and UE4 and know for a darn fact that creating something like that requires a solid set of skills and a ton of free time on your hand. Your work is hands down one of the most impressive things I’ve seen in a long while, I hope I see more projects from you and I hope some outstanding gaming studio can put your skills into good use.

I would just like to say Thanks Quentin, this was one of my very first experences in VR and as a massive BR fan one of the best, I’ve never been closer to that BR feeling than through this and for that I can’t thank you enough, I just wanted you to know it’s had that much of an impact, if it’s ever crowd funded I want you to know I’ll be 100% behind it in future developments or any other way I can help, now I must go, I’ve just poured a drink and I’m heading off to the balcony to soak it all up!

This is what I have been looking for. I was hoping someone with skills I didn’t possess would bring at least a small piece of the Blade Runner universe to live in VR and this did not disappoint. I have no idea how many times I’ve wandered around Deckard’s apartment and its exactly as I had imagined it. Thank you for realizing this project and following it through. If you do decide to crowd fun a future project of similar nature I would also be 100% behind it.

    First off, great work!
I have an Oculus Rift (CV1 with Touch controllers). I also have SteamVR installed.
For what it’s worth, when I started the executable, it reported detecting OpenVR and I was able to run it in VR mode on my Oculus Rift. I could see my Touch controllers in-game and pressing the B or Y buttons brought up the Help menu that described the functions of the buttons.
Pretty sure it was through Steam somehow, because I got some Steam notifications while I was playing, and it loaded a partially-functional Steam menu when I pressed the Menu button.
My only real gripes were the inability to snap rotate (orientation was fixed and the only way to turn was to physically turn my body), the strange way that I would sometimes warp to a point and sometimes walk to a point (which appears to a Touch vs Vive thing), and the persistent Deckard soundclips over and over…and over. (I found your blaster, Rick, you can stop mumbling to yourself about it.)

    Hi Hristo,
I’m sorry it doesn’t work anymore for the rift.
Unfortunately there is no planning for this project anymore since I got shutdown from Steam and Youtube 🙁

FYI: I’m still able to play it fine on my Oculus Rift CV1. I’m starting it through Steam, with SteamVR active, if that matters.
